Introduction to Maya 2020

Interface and Workflow with Eric Keller

Introduction and Setup

Description

Autodesk’s Maya 2020 is the leading 3D application used by artists in digital production across the game, visual effects, commercial, and broadcast industries. Maya's feature-rich toolset expands with every version and has been reorganized once more in this latest release. Whether you’re completely new to using a 3D computer graphics package, migrating from another 3D application, or an experienced user who just wants to see all the newest features in action, the demonstrations in each video of this 51-chapter workshop will get you up to speed in using Maya 2020.

Veteran VFX artist and instructor, Eric Keller, puts Maya 2020 through the paces in this 15-hour workshop while giving you all the in-depth descriptions of the interface and tools needed for a full grasp of the tool. The training covers all the essential areas of the Maya toolkit including modeling, rigging, animation, and effects, as well as shading, lighting, and finally rendering with the Arnold renderer.

This comprehensive workshop uses a project-based approach to introduce the latest improvements in Maya 2020, including workspaces, the Bifrost plug-in, interactive grooming with XGen, the Nucleus dynamics system, instancing with MASH, setting up UVs, as well as animation using the Graph Editor, the Time Editor, and animation layers.

The project files Eric uses throughout this workshop are available to download with a subscription and can be used to follow along with the video chapters — or for your own 3D deconstructions. In addition to exploring Maya's powerful toolset, you will also learn how to optimize your workflow with interface customizations to speed up your 3D workflow.
